A night at the races!

My friends know that I'm a huge fan of thoroughbred horse racing, and one of my "bucket list" things on this trip was to go to the races at Meydan Racecourse.

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Makhtoum, is well known for his love of thoroughbred racing, and the track he built here is the finest in the world! So, again, I bought our tickets online as soon as we started planning the trip, and I mailed Sean's dressy clothes to him in anticipation of our fancy evening. It was SO worth it!

We sat in the Winner's Circle restaurant, which had a panoramic view of the track, the amazing Jumbotron, the parade ring, and the winner's circle.

The track itself has three courses: an American style dirt mile oval, a larger turf course, and an English style straight turf course!

Our ticket package included a four course dinner, and an open bar! The food was amazing! We each tried different items, and they were all beautifully presented. First were the salads:

Our entrees were chicken on the left and fish on the right.

Dessert was also awesome! Cappucino and a brandy, too.

The racing action was definitely world class! Of course Sheikh Makhtoum's racing stable, Godolphin, was well represented in the Winner's Circle with its bright blue stable colors.

There were also thoroughbreds from all over the world: USA, Great Britain, South Africa, Ireland, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, etc. I won't bore everyone with the horses' pedigrees, but I can say we were definitely watching some of the finest horses in the world!
