First evening in Dubai: Burj Khalifa!

We definitely hit the ground running last night!

One of the "must sees" in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. It is 150 stories tall, and the observation deck is on the 125th floor! The best time of day to visit is sunset, so I bought our tickets when they went on sale a month in advance, and I crossed my fingers that our flights would be on time and we'd be able to make the tour. Fortunately, everything worked out just fine! We hopped on the Dubai Metro and headed over.

The Dubai Mall is HUGE! We literally had to walk about a mile from the Metro station to the mall, then through the mall to get to the observation deck. There was a long line of people waiting to get in, but it moved very quickly. The high speed elevators were specially made just for the Burj. They go all the way up in 60 seconds, with your ears popping the whole way!

The view of the city is AMAZING! We both don't like heights, but we couldn't pass this up!

The city architecture is amazing!

We had to get a picture of us together, so we swapped phones with a German couple.

Sunset was gorgeous, and I can see why it's the best time of day to visit!

This is the Dubai Mall, looking down from the Burj. You can see some of the Dubai Fountain in the lagoon, along with the Souk Al Bahar. More about the fountain in my next post.

Here's the official Guinness World Record certificate!

This is the Burj looking up from the lagoon. They do a light show at night!
